Satellite Housing is a non-profit organization that provides affordable, service enriched housing that promotes healthy and dignified living for people with limited options. Since 1966, Satellite has been a leader in the development of affordable housing for low-income individuals, providing a unique service-enriched environment and maintaining a long-term commitment to its residents through responsible ownership and quality property management.

Over the past four decades, Satellite has fulfilled its mission and founding principles by addressing the unmet housing and service needs of the Bay Area's lowest income seniors, families and adults with special needs and they are still going strong for decades to come. Satellite currently serves over 1,600 residents in 25 properties throughout the San Francisco East Bay Area.
Job Description:
As a member of Satellite senior management team, the Director of Property Management (DPM) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of property management in accordance with Satellite's mission of providing affordable service-enriched housing that promotes healthy and dignified living for those with limited options. The Director is overall responsible for ensuring that properties within Satellite's portfolio are well-maintained and fiscally sound.

The Director of Property Management directly supervises a staff of five, consisting of Property Supervisors, a Facility Manager and an Administrative Assistant. The Director is ultimately responsible for the entire property management staff which consists of approximately eighty (80) staff members.

In addition to serving as a member of senior staff, with collective responsibility for organization-wide leadership and planning, the Director of Property Management participates in Board Meetings, serves on Satellite's Property Management/Resident Services Committee, affiliate boards and also participates in the planning of new developments for the organization.
Qualifications:
Satellite is looking for an innovative leader to continue its reputation of excellence, while developing refined property management systems that streamline its work.

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Business, or in a related field, or have the equivalent experience. The candidate should be a vibrant leader with the ability to guide and coach a strong management team of professionals, keeping with Satellite's policies and procedures. The candidate should have exceptional analytical and problem solving skills and able to recommend effective solutions to complex issues as they arise.

Satellite's ideal candidate should also have strong fiscal skills, with the ability to develop and monitor property budgets. Further, the candidate should have superior written and oral communication & presentation skills, with the ability and poise to represent the organization at public events and with external agencies.

Lastly, the candidate should have solid experience and understanding of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as well as Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) systems. The candidate should also have a well-built understanding of fair housing and landlord-tenant laws and procedures. A candidate with a Broker's license is a plus.
